Position Summary
The Floor Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the production floor to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and team performance. This hands-on role will drive production targets, troubleshoot issues in real-time, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. The ideal candidate will bring leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coach and motivate frontline staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily floor operations, ensuring production schedules and quality standards are met.
- Work closely with Quality Control, Engineering, and Inventory teams to resolve bottlenecks or defects.
- Lead daily shift huddles and communicate production goals, updates, and safety topics effectively.
- Track productivity, downtime, and other KPIs using internal systems and reports.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to reduce waste, optimize flow, and increase efficiency.
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to ensure materials and components are available for production.
- Work closely with the Quality Control team to uphold product standards and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Close work orders in the ERP system and collaborate closely with the Inventory Manager to ensure accurate material tracking and replenishment.
- Be mechanically inclined to either oversee or directly perform tasks related to equipment and system assembly or troubleshooting.
- Monitor employee performance, provide on-the-spot coaching, and escalate disciplinary or performance issues as needed.
- Led onboarding and training new employees, including cross-training efforts.
- Ensure safe working conditions and enforce all health, safety, and company policies.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or technical degree preferred.
- 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Strong understanding of production processes, lean principles, and safety regulations.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of ERP or production scheduling systems is a plus.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be comfortable working in a non-climate-controlled environment.
